Policy Changes:
Strengthen vetting process on hiring staff that work with children.
Create and distribute a streamlined process for reporting abuse within the organization and make child protection policy publicly available.
Put policy in the handbook on reporting and dealing with abuse, include clear instructions on how to report it and who gets it and what's done with the report.
Change wording on enrollment application to exclude abuse from the requirement to leave quietly if there’s an unresolved dispute with school.
Additional Education/Training:
Teach children age-appropriate body safety, bodily autonomy, consent, and boundaries (all ages)
Teach biologically accurate sex ed for high school.
Bring in additional training on spotting and preventing sexual abuse by an outside organization that specializes in that field.
Bring in additional education and resources for students and staff re: porn
Public/Community Restitution
Make public recognition of past staff members that have gone on to be charged and/or convicted of sex crimes against children.
Set aside funds to be made available for victims/survivors to seek professional therapy/counseling outside of FBC from a licensed counselor or therapist.
Bring in third party investigation to make space for additional potential victims to come forward and determine what specific policies and organizational cultural changes are necessary to create a safe environment.
Personnel Changes:
Remove Rebert as senior pastor due to his role in enabling abuse to continue.
Create a school board that is independent of the senior pastor and has oversight of the school, including personnel decisions like hiring/firing.
